Seeing Jesus in Psalm 133

Psalm 133 A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. A psalm of David. 1 How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! 2 For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. 3 Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting. I’ve long thought that one of the most attractive things about following Jesus is the fruit of the Spirit. Doesn’t everyone want a life where love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control are in abundance?  What kind of a world would it be if each individual had these attributes welling up inside? Wouldn't there be a world where harmony persisted and conflicts were nonexistant between those who possessed such luxurious character? David had a vision from God of such a world. And when ever...

Seeing Jesus in Psalm 93

Psalm 93 1 The Lord is king ! He is robed in majesty. Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. 2 Your throne , O Lord, has stood from time immemorial. You yourself are from the everlasting past. 3 The floods have risen up, O Lord. The floods have roared like thunder; the floods have lifted their pounding waves. 4 But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore— the Lord above is mightier than these! 5 Your royal laws cannot be changed. Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever . Two of the clearest themes of the Psalms are the King who is God and the Word of God or His law. Both the word of God and the King who is God point us unmistakably to Jesus Christ whom we learn is the King of kings and the Lord of Lords, and who is the Word of God. So when we read at the beginning of verse 1 it is the Lord who is king, we have no further to look to see this is a Messianic Psalm....

Seeing Jesus in Psalm 68

Psalm 68 Main Point : When you live with the presence of God you will see the power and strength of God among you. As I copied Psalm 68 today I had many ideas of what to share. It is a very rich 35 verses. And there are verses that easily thrill our souls and we want to share these because we want to say, Look, God is wonderful and He does lovely things (vv.5, 6, 19, 20). But then there are verses that are possibly harder to enjoy depending on your situation and mindset in life (vv.1, 10, 12, 21, 23) . The whole Psalm tells us the story of how God will live with His people . And that is the idea that Isaiah picks up on in  “All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means 'God is with us').”  I saiah 7:14 NLT And thankfully Matthew makes it very clear that Isaiah was talking about Jesus. “All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord's message through his prop...
