Seeing Jesus in the Psalms

  Psalm 84 This Psalm brought so much joy to my heart this morning and resonated with the wonderful message we heard in our local gathering of God's family this Sunday. And before I break it all down, let me challenge you to go back and read the Psalm and consider that God lives in His people: the church is the dwelling place of our God. In fact I am so filled with a similar heart of thanksgiving today that I read here in Korah’s descendants’ Psalm that I want to start with my own praise session: MAIN POINT: Get close to God by getting close to where He is and where He works, and you will find immense joy. I love what I see God doing in my heart. I love what I see God doing in Lyssa’s heart; she is so wonderful to others and to me. Praise You, God for the work you are doing in and through her. The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. Psalm 28:7 NLT   Psalm 28 Justice is deeply important, and I do not think David is wrong at all for his feelings and his request to the Lord in v.4, “Requite them according to their work and according to the evil of their practices; Requite them according to the deeds of their hands; Repay them their recompense .” But I am reminded that if we are to be like Jesus, we must go further: we must love mercy and forgiveness. We must love and pray for our enemies. As I read this Psalm, I am reminded of Jesus who calls us to an even higher standard than seeking justice for our own revenge.
