Seeing Jesus in Psalm 145

Psalm 145 The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads. Psalm 145:14 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 MAIN POINT: When you hear about all the amazing things Jesus has done, is doing and will do, you won’t be able to help but praise Him. I never get tired of rehearsing the miracles of Jesus. Salvation plan, creation, incarnation, growth in wisdom and stature, passion for the Father’s house, obedience, turning water to wine, feeding thousands, walking on water, healing every kind of sickness, driving out demons, forgiving sins, speaking of the kingdom, raising the dead, loving the unfaithful, establishing His gathering, giving gifts, and on and on it goes. And this doesn’t even ...

Seeing Jesus in Psalm 118

Psalm 118 Sometimes a big event overshadows something else very significant happening around the same time. Since I set out on this journey to handwrite a copy of every Psalm and then write a “Bible lesson” for each one everyday for 150 days, I always get asked the same question. “What are you going to do when you get to Psalm 119?” My friends were so concerned that they organised a crew of helpers to join in the task of rewriting the Psalm. More on that after this Psalm. I realised after 70 some days that I needed to have a rest day in the week and that writing 7 days a week wasn’t the best idea. But I was still determined to finish the project by the end of the year, so I made the plan with Lyssa to rest on Sunday and write two Psalms on Monday (which is my weekend day since the store is open on Saturday and closed on Sunday and Monday). But after reordering the Psalms I noticed that would put Psalm 119 on a Monday and actually couple it with Psalm 118. With all the concentration on ...

Seeing Jesus in Psalm 105

Psalm 105 God assures us He will keep his promise to make us fruitful. That promise is made to many different people throughout the Bible in different ways. God uses both blessings and testing to keep his promise. And the reason why God uses blessings and testings to keep His promise is so we will obey and praise Him. Knowing that may help you answer why you have been blessed or tested. MAIN POINT: We are encouraged to praise because God uses wonderful deeds (blessings and testings) to keep His promise so we will obey and praise Him Although I have spoken little about the structure of the Psalms as a whole, it is often commented about by scholars and preachers that Psalms is a highly structured and intricate book containing five books, and each one of those made up of introductions and endings. So it should be of no surprise to us that we see a relationship in Psalm 105 to the preceding Psalm 104. Since Psalms has just established that God is creator of and He gives breath and su...
