Seeing Jesus in Psalm 141

Psalm 141 A psalm of David. 1 O Lord, I am calling to you. Please hurry!     Listen when I cry to you for help! 2 Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. 3 Take control of what I say, O Lord,     and guard my lips. 4 Don’t let me drift toward evil     or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in the delicacies     of those who do wrong. 5 Let the godly strike me!     It will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine.     Don’t let me refuse it. But I pray constantly     against the wicked and their deeds. 6 When their leaders are thrown down from a cliff, the wicked will listen to my words and find them true. 7 Like rocks brought up by a plow,     the bones of the wicked will lie scattered without burial. 8 I look to you for help, O Sovereign L...

Seeing Jesus in Psalm 91

Psalm 91 How can it be true? Under what circumstances are these words a reflection of the reality of God’s followers? I am not comforted but these words as many people find comfort because they appear to be a false promise. I thought for a moment that it might be speaking about Jesus. Maybe He is the one that can claim this promise. Apparently, I am not alone in this thought.  “and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! Seeing Jesus in Psalm 65

Psalm 65 MAIN POINT: There are things only God can do. Jesus did these things. Jesus is God. Psalm 65 recognises the power of God and sets the stage for Jesus to demonstrate He is that God. Jesus can calm the storms. 'You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations. ' Psalms 65:7 “Jesus responded, "Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!" Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. "Who is this man?" they asked. "Even the winds and waves obey him!" Matthew 8:26-27 Yesterday as I walked to work there was a quick short hard rain shower. Both of my weather forecast sources (Alexa and Lyssa) had assured me that it would not rain on me on my way to work. No matter how much information, computer programs and learned scientists with masses of data from observations, we cannot accurately predict the weather and humans can definitely no...
