Seeing Jesus in Hebrews and the book of Psalms

Hebrews 3 “... think carefully about this Jesus   whom we declare to be God’s messenger and High Priest. “ Hebrews 3:1 7 That is why the Holy Spirit says, “Today when you hear his voice, 8 don't harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness. 9 There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years. 10 So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ 11 So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’” 15 Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.”  Hebrews 3:7-11,15 8 The Lord says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. 9 For there your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw everything I did. 10 For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘T...

Seeing Jesus in Psalm 149

Psalm 149 1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song.     Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful. 2 O Israel, rejoice in your Maker.     O people of Jerusalem, exult in your King. 3 Praise his name with dancing,     accompanied by tambourine and harp. 4 For the Lord delights in his people;     he crowns the humble with victory. 5 Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them.     Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds. 6 Let the praises of God be in their mouths,     and a sharp sword in their hands— 7 to execute vengeance on the nations     and punishment on the peoples, 8 to bind their kings with shackles     and their leaders with iron chains, 9 to execute the judgment written against them.     This is the glorious privilege of his faithful ones. Praise the Lord! 3 Don’t you realize th...

Seeing Jesus in Psalm 147

Psalm 147 He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry. Psalms 147:9 NLT Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Matthew 6:26 NLT So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. John 5:19 Jesus is doing what His Father sent Him to do. And He is doing the same things the Father does. When Jesus tells us what the Father does, He is also explaining the works that are attributable to Himself. These are the kingdom of God works. And we shouldn’t think that we can understand it all. It is by definition Godly stuff, infinite acts of unfathomable complexity and far outside our comprehension. The rebuilding of Jerusalem and the return of the exiles points figuratively to two enemies in Jesus’ life. The return follows th...
