Seeing Jesus in Psalm 147

Psalm 147 He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry. Psalms 147:9 NLT Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Matthew 6:26 NLT So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. John 5:19 Jesus is doing what His Father sent Him to do. And He is doing the same things the Father does. When Jesus tells us what the Father does, He is also explaining the works that are attributable to Himself. These are the kingdom of God works. And we shouldn’t think that we can understand it all. It is by definition Godly stuff, infinite acts of unfathomable complexity and far outside our comprehension. Seeing Jesus in Psalm 146

Psalm 146 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. Psalm 146:8 The Christmas story opens with the birth of two second cousins who are miraculously born to two women who could not possibly have children. John the Baptist, son of Zechariah and Elizabeth, and Jesus, born to the virgin Mary, the cousin of Elizabeth, who was engaged to be married to Joseph. Later in life John is wondering if Jesus really was what was prophesied? So he sends two messengers to Jesus, and Jesus answers from Psalm 146. 22 Then he told John's disciples, "Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard--the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor. 23 And tell him, 'God blesses those who do not turn away because of me.'" Luke 7:22-23 NLT Matthew 11:4-5 Can you see that this answer of Jesus parallels the Psalm? You might think that Jesus was done with the parallels after His brief reply...

Seeing Jesus in Psalm 145

Psalm 145 The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads. Psalm 145:14 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 MAIN POINT: When you hear about all the amazing things Jesus has done, is doing and will do, you won’t be able to help but praise Him. I never get tired of rehearsing the miracles of Jesus. Salvation plan, creation, incarnation, growth in wisdom and stature, passion for the Father’s house, obedience, turning water to wine, feeding thousands, walking on water, healing every kind of sickness, driving out demons, forgiving sins, speaking of the kingdom, raising the dead, loving the unfaithful, establishing His gathering, giving gifts, and on and on it goes. And this doesn’t even ...
